Francois Theron is the Deputy CEO of Discovery Insure and has been with the Discovery group for over two decades. He has served in various roles during his tenure, including as the Chief Operating Officer for Discovery Insure and Discovery Health covering over 4 million lives. He also worked on Discovery’s global ventures, Vitality, in the United Kingdom and the United States. As part of his current role as Deputy CEO for Discovery Insure, he was instrumental in establishing Discovery Insure as the fastest growing short term insurer in South Africa and leads the international expansion of Discovery Insure’s unique driver behaviour programme, Vitality Drive, which are expanding rapidly across various other regions. Vitality is grounded on a shared value insurance model based on 30 years of behavioural change experience and present in 43 countries through it’s heath, life and drive programmes, covering over 35 million lives globally.

During Francois’s career at Discovery he won Discovery’s Leader of the Year in 2004 and Operations Executive of the year twice. Francois has an M.Comm in Business Management. He is an avid mountain biker and has completed three Absa Cape Epics, and as an accomplished runner has also completed the New York and Cape Town marathons. Francois is energised by getting things done, and reaching complex and challenging business milestones. He is passionate about shared-value insurance, and delivering exceptional service and value to clients.
