Walter Jopp is the Chief Executive Officer of Salama – Islamic Arab Insurance Co (P.S.C). With 25 years of global market experience, Walter is a proven leader in strategy,
market development and distribution. In his role as CEO of the largest Takaful insurer in the UAE, Walter works closely with Salama’s Board and the rest of the executive team to steer Salama’s growth ambitions and plans to leverage its position as the market leader in the Takaful sector.

Walter has a strong track record of spearheading digital transformation initiatives and is a key contributor to Salama’s ongoing digital transformation and strategic growth plans. In addition, his proven skills in improving operational efficiencies and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners support the company’s ongoing growth and ambitions as a leader in the UAE Takaful industry for over 45 years.

Walter has a deep understanding of the Middle East market from his previous role as CEO - Middle East at Zurich International Life, where he led and managed operations,
furthered digitization strategies and grew profitability. Furthermore, he brings significant international and emerging market experience to his current role through his stints in the United Kingdom, Asia, Latin America and Scandinavia.

Walter has previously held board positions as Executive Director of Zurich International Life Ltd in the Isle of Man and Director of Zurich Workplace Solutions in the Dubai
International Finance Centre. He was instrumental in launching the region’s first compulsory employee benefits plan for over 20k employees of the DIFC.
